in, january 2016

In January 2016, Google announced that 360° videos would be nativly supported on YouTube. On March 13, 2016, YouTube enabled 360° videos which can be viewed from google cupboard, a virtual reality system.

360-degree video is typically recorded using either a special rig of multiple cameras, or using a dedicated VR camera that contains multiple camera lenses embedded into the device. The resulting footage is then stitched to form a single video. This process is done either by the camera itself, or using specialized video editing software that can analyze common visuals and audio to synchronize and link the different camera feeds together. Generally, the only area that cannot be viewed is the view toward the camera support

Specialized omnidirectional cameras and rigs have been developed for the purpose of filming 360-degree video, including rigs such as GoPro's Omni and Odyssey, handheld dual-lens cameras such as the Ricoh Theta S and Samsung Gear 360, and panoramic camera lens accessory developed for the iPhone 44S, and Samsung Galaxy Nexus. In videoconferencing, 360° cameras are used, so that all participants on one location can be recorded with one camera.

Most 360-degree video is monoscopic, meaning that it is viewed as a flat image on a singular surface. Stereoscopic video is viewed as two images directed individually to each eye.[4] 360-degree videos are typically viewed via personal computersmobile devices such as smartphones, or dedicated head-mounted displays. When viewed on PCs, the mouse is typically used to pan around the video by clicking and dragging. On smartphones, internal sensors such as the gyroscope is used to pan the video based on the orientation of the device. Taking advantage of this behavior, devices such as Google Cardboard viewers and the Samsung Gear VR serve as stereoscope-style headset enclosures that a smartphone can be inserted into, for viewing this content in a virtual reality format. They emulate the operation of a dedicated head-mounted display, but utilizing the display of the phone itself and internal lenses, rather than containing dedicated screens of their own

DIY Magnetic Hexagon Planters

Posted by Meghan
I may have a slight obsession with the hexagon shape. I recently made cement hexagon bookendsand still have hexagon paper mache boxes in my stash that will most likely make a project appearance. My obsession continues with this DIY project. This time around I am using wooden hexagon containers. Now, most people would probably see these hexagon containers and think they would make great penholders. Well, not this girl!
It's kind of a known fact the I do not have the greenest thumb around. I have a tendency to kill plants (I think I just have bad luck when it comes to plant care. It clearly has nothing to do with me!). So, for this project, I decided to focus on using some faux plants that actually looked very realistic. My idea was to turn my wooden hexagon container into magnetic planters for some faux succulents!
At first, I was thinking of painting my wooden hexagon container, but I remembered I had a few pieces of pretty scrapbook paper that I could incorporate into this project. So, I ended up not painting my container at all; I let my paper pattern run the show! All I did was cut out my circle designs and glue them to the sides of my container. I had so much fun arranging the different circle colors on my container. Then, to finish my planters, I added magnets, moss, and my faux succulents.
What I love about this project is there is no plant maintenance required AND you are able to add a bit of green (and a pop of color!) to a refrigerator, metal door, or any other metal surface! I added my planters to a metal pole in the changing area of our video studio. After hanging my three planters, I definitely think I need to fill the pole up; I just love how the plants and containers look against the grey pole! If you don't have a metal surface to hang your planters, you could always place them on a non-metallic surface. However, if you ask me, it is way more fun to display these planters vertically!

Here's what you'll need:

Let's get crafty!

1.
Cut out the circles from your paper and add an adhesive square to the back.
2.
Place your circle on your container. Continue adding your circles to your container.
3.
Fill up your container with your paper dots. I had some of my circles hanging off the top and bottom of my container. I also wrapped some along the corners.
4.
Cut off the excess paper hanging off of your container with your craft knife.
5.
Place an adhesive square on the back of your magnet and place it on the back top of your container. Repeat this step with your other magnet.
6.
Add your moss and then your succulent to your container.
Now, all you need to do is decide where to hang your super fun planters!

diy pumpkin treats

This past weekend the kids and I spent a lot of time with pumpkin. Between picking them at the patch and carving them for the front porch, we were in pumpkin heaven. So it only made sense to get in the kitchen and make some pumpkin fun in there too.
I was digging through my stash of Wilton baking pans and ran into the Ice Cream Cookie Bowl pan that I had completely forgotten about. Turns out, it’s pretty darn perfect for making a realistic shaped pumpkin when filled with Rice Krispies Treats.
To make these, all you need is your favorite Rice Krispies Treats recipe, the Wilton Ice Cream Cup Pan and a few small helpers eager to celebrate Halloween. Alternatively, if you don’t have this pan, you could always just rolls the treats into a ball with your hands.
While you’re melted the marshmallows and butter, add a little orange or red/yellow to create a nice bright orange color.
(My favorite way to make Rice Krispies Treats: 6 TBS butter slightly browned, a splash of vanilla extract, 10.5 oz mini marshmallows, 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal)

Once the molded treats cool, you can place two of them together to create a pumpkin shape.

Use a little green cookie icing to draw on some vine squigglies.

You can eat the Pumpkin Rice Krispies Treats plain or draw on Jack-o-Lantern faces with black cookie icing.
